Hello Fall!

I love this time of the year.  The months of October through February/March include all my favorite holidays.  I decided to do a little Fall decorating last weekend and here is what I have come up with so far...

The fire place mantel

The kitchen table

The pumpkin bowl

Cute turkey

Pumpkins in front of the door

Fall wreath basket for the front door

I still have some work to do, but I'm pretty happy with my fall decorations as of right now.  I don't want to over-do it.  My fall table inspiration came from Pottery Barn's Fall Decorating Guide.  They really have some great stuff...including those cute pumpkin bowls, napkin rings, and Mr. Turkey seen above.

In the next few weeks, I will more than likely add small fall touches to the kitchen, dining room, living room and bathrooms.  I will also probably add a little something to the front door to pull the look together.  These decorations are great for the months of September through November.  Then I can get the Christmas goods out!!!!!  :o)

Pick of The Day

I don't know about you people, but I am having a major obsession with wrap coats/jackets/capes...whatever you want to call them.

My current favorite is Rachel Zoe's, Ali Wrap Cape featured below.  What. A. Gem!  You have no idea how bad I am wanting this cape!!!!

I am also obsessed with the rest of Rachel Zoe's new collection.  Her lookbook can be viewed here.

Another love of mine is the Ann Taylor, Leather Trimmed Wrap seen below.  I see this being a major staple in my fall/winter wardrobe!

One more before I go...

This adorable BB Dakota "Josie" Wrap Coat is also a winner in my book.  I just LOVE the hood featured on the coat!  Plus, it's a great alternative to Rachel Zoe's Ali Wrap Cape if you are looking to save a few dollars.

LOUIS is ALWAYS a good surprise! And P.S. I have an awesome husband!

I know a lot of you have amazing significant others, but I'm going to brag on how amazing my guy is for just a few minutes of your time!

My husband works out of town quite a bit.  His job requires him to be gone for about a month at a time and then he comes home for about a week, and he's gone again.  Because of that schedule, we take advantage of any time he may have away from the job...even if it's just for 12 to 24 hours.  It just so happened that he had one of those days where he had a few hours away from the job.  His company is going through a merger with another company and he needed some official paperwork from the house for a meeting the next day.  So we decided to make a date out of it all in San Antonio.  It was a good meeting point for the both of us.  I gathered up all the paper work, packed my bag, made a reservation at a hotel, dropped off the dogs at the kennel and I drove the three and half hours to San Antonio!  I was SO excited to see my husband!  It had been about 3 weeks since the last time I had seen him.  I got to the hotel earlier than him, so I put on my swimsuit and headed to the pool.  He showed up about an hour later and was really wanting me to come up to the room.  I said I had a drink in my hand, the sun was shining, and the pool felt amazing...why not come hang out here for a while?  I finally talked him into it...I couldn't understand why he wouldn't want to join in on the fun at the pool.  We hung out for a good hour or so and decided to head to the room to take showers and get ready for dinner.  On our way back to the room, I said something about needing to use the restroom but I would just wait until we made it back to the room.  He then started being pushy about me using the bathroom before we got to the room.  I was thinking...what is wrong with him?!  Weirdo.  After having a brief discussion in the lobby about me not wanting to go to the bathroom in the public restroom, we headed to our hotel room.  I opened the door to find a huge LOUIS VUITTON shopping bag sitting on our bed!!!!

Aaaahhh (Choir of angels singing)!!!!!

It all made sense now!  I understood why he was being so weird about me coming up to the room and wanting me to use the bathroom before I got to our room!  I almost peed myself right there at the door!  My husband does not surprise me a lot, but when he does...it's a REALLY GOOD SURPRISE!  I had told him a couple of times about the LV purse I had been wanting, but surely he didn't remember these details...

I ran and jumped on the bed and started to open the gift.  It was kinda like a lion pouncing it's prey, but more careful.

TA-DA!!!!!!  The beautiful TIVOLI GM!!!!!!!!!  What. A. Surprise!...good job husband!  :o)

I seriously have the best husband ever!  The Lord couldn't have chosen a more perfect man for me.  I'm not just saying that because he bought me a LV purse.  He really is an amazing man/husband and I don't tell him that often enough.  I appreciate how hard he works for the two us and I know he appreciates how hard I work for the both of us as well.  I am very blessed to have such an amazing man who loves me and wants the world for me, as I do him.

BEST SURPRISE EVER!!!!!!!!  Love you hubs!  ;o)

Score!

While doing a little late night shopping...I found something that made me jump off my seat and smile from ear to ear.  It wasn't anything I was particularly looking for, I just so happened to stumble upon amazingness!  Ladies and gents...feast your eyes on this deal I just found...

Valentino Bow Jelly Thong
$295.00

Dollhouse Bow Sandals
$16.00

Yes people, that's a $279.00 savings!!!  AND these shoes look exactly alike!!  I fell in love with my mother in law's Valentino's while on vacation in Cabo.  However, I was not willing to spend $295.00 on a pair of sandals to wear to the pool and on the beach.  Until...I stumbled upon these Dollhouse look-a-likes!  Ssshh.  It will just be our little secret.  Everyone else can think I'm wearing Valentino's.  :o)  Score!

Pick(s) of The Day

Does anyone else's heart skip a beat whenever you see a pair of studded or metallic glittery pumps?!  Maybe it's just me, but I can't get over these shoes! I need them ASAP!  I could not pick just one pair of shoes for today's post.  It deserved a couple of picks.  ;o)

Sam Edelman "Lorissa" Spike Pump
Enzo Angiolini "Smiles" Platform Pump
Sam Edelman "Lorna" Pump
Steve Madden "BevvS" Platform Pump
My favorites are the Sam Edelman spiked denim pumps.  How amazing are they?!  I LOVE them!  I also love the Steve Madden sequin pumps.  Ahh!  The Sam Edelman Lorna pumps really have it all going on though.  They are metallic, have studs, AND have a bow!  What more could a girl ask for in a shoe?!  Maybe it's just because I watched both the Sex & the City movies last night with my girlfriend, but I'm really craving all these beauties right now.

Hope everyone had a great Fourth of July!

Pick of The Day

My current obsession in shoes: The fabulous Vince Camuto

These Mallory Leopard print sandals are just AMAZING!!!  I'm going on a trip to Cabo soon and I want everything that screams beach vacay.  These sandals come in all different colors and I really can't decide which ones I want most.  They are $89.00, so I can't really afford to buy all 5 pairs.  :o/  So far, these leopard print sandals are "WINNING."

Pick Of The Day

Today's pick comes to you from one of our favorite places to shop.  You guessed it...the GAP!!!

Always Skinny Jeans (white wash)
I could be the only person without a pair of white jeans this Spring, but I'm really hoping to be the owner of these Always Skinny Jeans (white wash) from the GAP very soon!  I love them and can't wait to squeeze by bum into them!  They are a whopping $59.50 online (pretty fair price), but a little bird told me they are 3/4 of the price at the GAP Outlet.  Watch out GAP outlet!  I'm coming for you!  :o)

Trunk Show

I went to a trunk show for Chic Boutique at one of mi amigos casa's last Thursday night.  All I have to say is WOW!  I wanted every single item I laid my eyes on!  I always like to get to trunk shows a little early or right on time so that I get the best things before anyone else has a chance to lay their hands on them.  I know...I'm  vicious!  ;o)  I got there right when it started, said hello to my friend and introduced myself to everyone and then started my rummaging.  I pretty much tried on everything and I probably would have bought everything I tried on, but my husband would have killed me afterwards.  So I came away with three pretty awesome dresses.  Here are pictures of two of them.  She doesn't have the other one online.

Silk Pink Mini

Voom Silk Navy Charmeuse Babydoll Dress
I wore the Silk Pink Mini dress out to dinner the other night and my husband's jaw dropped.  I'm being serious.  He LOVED it!  I got so many compliments.  The picture really doesn't do the dress justice.  I will have to post a picture soon of the dress on me.  The other dress I bought, which is not pictured, is super fab too!  It's white and gold and is really versatile.  As soon as I put the dress on, I knew I wanted it!  Sometimes, it's just right.  I love the lace back of the baby-doll dress.  It's pretty much the only reason why I bought the dress.  SO cute!

The rest of the night was fun watching others try on items.  We all had food and drinks and put on fashion shows for each other.  Quite the fun girls night!  Any who, if you have time and are looking for a unique dress or top...check out Chic Boutique.  Some of the store's items have even been featured in Glamour Magazine!  Great stuff people.  Great stuff.

Going Nude

I have been noticing nude colored clothing everywhere I look lately.  I am a huge fan of nude and black together.  I think it looks so romantic.  Really, I just think that nude colored clothes are romantic.  I don't know what it is about that pale pink, blush colored look, but I just love it!

Although nude with black is my favorite look, I feel like it should not be limited to just black.  Here are a few other ideas of how to wear this fabulous nude look:

Source: I would pair this fabulous Alexander McQueen clutch with every one of these outfits!
OMGeee...is that beautiful embroidered clutch not AMAZING or what?!?!!?  Sorry, I got a little off task while searching for nude looks.  But honestly, it would go perfect with every one of those outfits above.  I also really love Kendi's black and nude look from Kendi Everyday.  Take a look at her fabulous black and nude ensemble here.  So great!

Wear almost any color shoe, hand bag, or jewelry with these pictured looks above.  If your outfit is mostly nude, then add a pop of color in your accessories for contrast.  If you are mixing and matching nudes with other colors, then it's best to keep your shoes and hand bags more neutral.

I personally think that nude/blush/light pink is best paired with black, corral, white and navy.  But you can really spice it up with bright colors in your accessories and make it look super fab!  From the looks of it, I think we will be seeing quite a bit of these color combos for Spring and Summer.

Pick Of The Day

Today's pick is from Tory Burch:

Okay, I am obsessed with this beautiful Seventies inspired Christelle Dress from Tory Burch!  It reminds me of dresses that my Nanny would wear.  She was always dressed so fabulous.  I also love the Metallic Bradshaw sandals that are paired with the dress.  How amazing are those?!  I'll be honest with you...I really just want this whole outfit.  I am picturing this look with a wide belt and gold jewelry.  Any one feel like donating a grand so I can make this dream come true?  :o)

It's My Birthday!

My birthday was yesterday!  :o)  Want to see what I got?  I'll show ya...

Yes, that is the MICHAEL KORS Golden Oversized Runway Watch!  :o)  My Nana and mother in law were very kind to buy it for me.  I don't know how they knew I wanted it.  The husband must have told them.  Speaking of the husband....he came home with a dozen beautiful red roses and surprised me with a wonderful dinner date.  It was really amazing food.  Everything was from local farms and organic.  It was so delicious!  I'm the kind of person who hates having birthday parties for myself.  I just want a nice dinner with my family and close friends and that is it.  I hate the birthday party thing for myself.  I don't know why.  I'm just weird like that.  Don't get me wrong though.  I LOVE the birthday gifts!!  Here is a picture of my gorgeous bouquet of roses from the husband:

He's the best.  Really.  And he got me the best birthday card ever.  Super sweet...made me cry.  :o)  I love him!  Any who...I'm supposed to be having birthday dinner with my padre tonight or the next.  I love birthday week!!  Weee!

Style Me Pretty

Date Night

Dress: Francesca's
Shoes: Jessica Simpson
Belt: Grandmothers (I wish I would have gotten a picture of the back of the belt...it's pretty cool)

Please excuse the grainy pictures and the dead dog toy in the background behind my legs.  Also, the front of my dress has ruffles.  You just can't really see them.  :o(

Friday night was date night for the hubs and I.  We decided to have a "locals weekend" for just the two of us.  We finally went and ate at the Spanish wine bar and restaurant across the street (literally right across the street) from us.  O-M-Geee!!!  I am so upset with ourselves for not trying out this place sooner.  It was such AMAZING food and wine!  And did I mention the entertainment?  Yes, there was also live entertainment!  :o)  As we sipped on probably one of the best Spanish reds I have ever tasted, as well as dined on the most amazing tapas of my life, we also enjoyed some live music from a great Spanish band.  It was the most romantic date night we have had in quite some time.  We were the couple all snuggled up next to each other and gazing into one anothers eyes in the restaurant.  And when we were not admiring our better halves, we were stuffing ourselves with our amazing spread of tapas.  Want to know what it included?  I'll tell ya...

1. Grilled Lamb Chops with rioja demi-glace
2. Roasted Eggplant, squash, and tomato napoleon with drunken goat cheese
3. Mussels in a white wine, saffron, garlic sauce with grilled bread for dipping
4. Special: Grilled mahi-mahi with mango, tomato and feta cheese
5. Special: Grilled filet topped with a blue cheese sauce (WOWzers!)

Yes...we ate all of that...

It's really small servings, so it's not as bad as it looks.  I swear...

Awesome date night is all I have to say!  :o)

How To...

How To Wear A Denim Shirt

After yesterday's Pick of the Day post, Melissa, from Write It In Lipstick got me thinking about how to wear a denim shirt.  Denim shirts are best paired with:

1. Skirts of almost any print or color and length
2. Shorts
3. Jeans
4. Black (jeans, leggings)
5. White jeans
6. Khaki

Here are a few pics to help give you some ideas...P.S. The first look is my absolute FAVORITE!

My Personal Favorite!
Where It Came From
Where It Came From
Love this look!
Where It Came From

Where It Came From
Where It Came From
I also thought that Sydney, from THE DAYBOOK pulled off the denim on denim look quite well.  I think the trick to doing denim on denim is mixing the washes of the denim.  Do a light wash shirt with a dark wash jean (or vice versa) so it doesn't look like you are wearing a jean suit.

By the way...I am obsessed with all of these looks!  I want every outfit...seriously.  I especially love the first picture with the shirt, skirt, and belt.  I also really love the third pic with the suspenders.  Suspenders are awesome and I want to be in that outfit right now.  The fourth picture makes me think of myself in a music video hitchhiking somewhere or driving in an old red car (I love red) with the top down on a long highway and my hair blowing in the wind (only I look like a tan brazilian model in both fantasies).

I hope these looks help you to make your denim shirts more fashionable!  :o)  Ciao!
