Style Me Pretty: 30 for 30

4 out of my 13 or so outfits I owe you...

Where it Came From:
Purple cardigan - Gap
Shirt under the cardigan - Target
Skirt - Talbot's
Tights - Target
Shoes - Bandolino (in all the pictures, even though you can't see them always)
Black shirt - Bebe
Pants - The Limited
Red shirt - Express
Black & white cardigan - White House Black Market

So it turns out that I haven't actually fallen off the earth!  Sorry I've been so neglectful.  It's been a little hectic around here.  The husband, dogs and I have been in and out of town a lot!  These are four outfits from the last two weeks that I owe you.  Since I didn't have a camera for the few weekends ago that I forgot it and my husband ran off with it for a while, I decided to just dress up for you all over again.  :o)  After changing, positioning the camera, and running back and forth a million times, I called it quits after these 4 looks.  I will try again tomorrow.  Elizabeth and I are supposed to be getting together, so that should help me get it all done for you lovelies!  :o)

Any who, these were outfits that I wore for showers, church, and dinners pretty much.  Sorry you have to look at the same background over and over.  I'm limited when I'm by myself.  My favorite outfit is the first one.  I love wearing it and I just liked that pose the most out of all the other ones.  The bottom outfit reminds me of CHANEL.  Not in that light of course, but in person...it looks amazing.

I'm off to go finish up the rest of my jobs for today!  Later gators!

Style Me Pretty: 30 for 30

15 of 30:

For B.
Didn't I tell you I wore something on Valentines day? Well this is it. Not too exciting, but hey I felt appropriately pretty for our date.

Man, I really need a tan. Soon enough folks. Until then put on the sunglasses to avoid the glare.

Also I wore lip stick. I NEVER do that. I felt fun and flirty with some red on my lips.

I hope you had a great day!

Dory the fish. I'm blue like her!

For serious.
Where it came from:
Shoes - Madden Girl
Dress - Francesca's
Shirt - Express
Belt - Stole it from my mum.

I'm in the home stretch! Yes! I miss my closet so much. I just want to wear all my other clothes and let them know I still love them. I also have a wish list that is about 2 miles long.

So I'm getting to the point where I'm just kind of throwing things together and going with it. This was definitely one of those days. Its not that I'm sick of the 30 for 30. I just have so much going on. You can't see it, but I'm surrounded by boxes because we are buying a house and moving this weekend. Not to mention B is gone so I'm doing the packing with the help of my parents. Thank the lord for my helpful family.

On a side note my brother is coming in for the weekend to help us move and I am so excited! We're going to celebrate after we finish the move and it is going to be a blast.

Did you know...

Someone put this up in the ladies room at work today.

And this simple post made me smile and just feel better. So, I'm going to pass it on. I'm not sure how or what exactly I'll turn this Post It into, but I would love to make it something that can be shared.

I have been wanting to do something like this more and more lately. Then the last FBFF was about body image and I've been thinking about it even more. Then someone lovely brightened my day by putting this up. Now I hope to do the same. I'll try to create a button that way if you want you can put this somewhere and try to brighten someones day!

So remember YOU ARE BEAUTIFUL!

ps. I did it! I made a button. So if you want to share this with someone you can!

Style Me Pretty

Bonus!

So these are not my 30 for 30 clothes. Oops. To be fair though I didn't plan this. I ended up staying the night at my parents last night and woke up with limited options. Also it was in the upper 70s, which is why I'm dressed for spring.

The skirt is from high school, the belt is my mum's, the hat is to cover the greasy hair, and the shirt is my brothers. The necklace is mine, and its also a clock!

I ended up staying over at my parents and helping them paint their house. I was originally wearing that shirt and sweat pants, but then my family decided to go out for a meal and I needed to clean up. This is what I came up with. I love the skirt and I'm glad I found it again!

The weekend is over. Work will be here in a matter of hours. I hope you all had a wonderful weekend! See you bright and early tomorrow morning.

Style Me Pretty: 30 for 30

Where it came from:
Dress - Ross
Scarf - Francesca's
Shoes - Spotted Moth
Necklace - Flea Market

I got my hair did today. I always love getting my hair done. I'm a sucker for anyone who will brush my hair. That is how my mum used to get me to sleep. She would just gently brush my hair until I passed out.

Besides getting my hair done I went to dinner at a family friends this evening and it was fun. I hadn't seen them since before I got engaged so there was a lot to catch up on.

Oh yeah! Do you remember this painting....

Well my parents put it one of their rooms and liked it so much that they commissioned me for another! And by commission I mean they said they would feed me if I made them another. Sweet deal!

I hope you are having a wonderful weekend!

Jeans - Pac Sun
Shoes - Spotted Moth
Tights - Target
Hair Clip - I made it!

Yay! It's Friday! You can't see but I'm doing my happy dance right now. Casual Friday!

The reason I took and posted that picture was to show you what I made! I was going for a flower tucked into my earlobe look here. I'm really happy with how it came out. I know that it is in my hair, but I made it so that I can change out how I wear it (hair clip, headband, clothing embellishment, necklace?). I'll post a how to later.

Did I mention its Friday? I did? Oh yeah. Well I hope you guys are having a blast and that it only gets better! Also I participated in Friend Friday over at Modly Chic. You should go check out the all the posts if you get a chance because today's topic was body image and I really enjoyed reading other peoples takes on the matter.

p.s.
I'm still really excited that I have a tripod. Yay for different backgrounds!

Style Me Pretty: 30 for 30: FBFF

So I always see the Friend Friday posts around the style blog world, but I have yet to participate but that all changes today. So. Here it goes...

High Five For Friends!

Friend Friday: Loving Your Body Image

1. Since you started blogging has your image of yourself changed? So far (2 whole months) I would say no. However, I have become much more aware of my shape.

2. Are you self-conscious about any aspect of yourself? If so, do you go out of your way to avoid it or do you post it/talk about it anyway? My forehead. Odd as that is. When I was probably about 12 a hairdresser told me that I had a really big forehead. Ever since I've been all to aware of it. This is actually the first time in years that I haven't had bangs. So I guess you might call that avoiding it? But other than that I don't avoid it, and I would be glad to talk about it. Also I have really big hands and feet for someone my size.

3. Based on how you are feeling now, what do you think the future holds in the evolution of your body image? I feel good, and I hope that only more good things are to come. I am like a fine wine and I will only get better with age. (Lame, I know. But it is true.)

4. Do you photograph yourself for your blog? If so, how do you feel about the experience when you’re having your picture taken? If you choose not to post pictures of yourself, what prompted that decision? I take pictures of myself for my blog. To be a little more specific I usually take my own picture. I don't like having someone else on the other side of the camera because it makes me feel like I'm trying to model and I can't just be my goofy self. I started my blog to develop my own sense of style, and figure out what works for me. Maybe give someone else an idea along the way and make a few friends. For me the pictures are a big part of figuring out what works, and just developing.

5. What would you want every person who struggles with body image to take to heart?
This is so hard for me to put into words, but I'll try. I know when I had the worst body image I was the one who was hardest on myself. Just changing that self depreciating train of though was so difficult, but it really was all that I needed to do. Always think about what makes you so amazing and don't beat yourself up.

I guess for me with body images, this blog and what not I just try to have fun and not take myself too seriously...
Red Eye The Not So Bearded Pirate. Arrrr.

I'm a dancing fool!
Have a fantastic Friday! Because you're awesome!

Style Me Pretty: 30 for 30

18 of 30: Musical Edition
Oh yeah. Cause this is....

 Thriller! Thriller night!
Buh bum bum bum bum bum, clap!

Then....

All the single ladies. All the single ladies.
Put your hands up! Up in the club. Doing my own little thing.

Now I'm just being boring.

And I'll end it with a high five!

I know. Very random, but I just thought those pictures fit the songs so well that I just went for it.

About the outfit... I tried (key word tried) to mix patterns. First, you can't tell that the shirt is vertically striped and second about half way through the day I realized that the plaid is vertical and horizontal stripes so it isn't mixing patterns if I just match parts of the pattern. Oh well. I'll get it right eventually.

Other than that it was a kind of boring day. At least tomorrow is Friday!

I hope you guys had a wonderful day!

Style Me Pretty: 30 for 30

17 of 30: Guess what!

Doesn't she just look fabulous?

I GOT A TRIPOD!

Yes, I finally got a tripod! This photo shoot was so much easier than my normal attempt and I got to explore new territory in the apartment. Which is why you see a door! And yes that last picture is me dancing. Sorry.

Also sorry about the super pale/reflective legs. I can't help it and I'm not wearing tights with the weather up in the 70s! So you can just put on your sun glasses and suck it up.

For some reason today I just was not feeling my closet. Maybe because its hump day (middle of the work week you pervert). So I just threw this on and wore it today. I like the ruffles, and of course the disco ball shoes are always welcome.

Repurposing A Frame

Hello! So I'm trying my hand and telling people about my little projects.

Things you might need:
A picture frame (Free from Mom)
Glue (Something that will adhere to cloth)
Cloth ($1 from hobby lobby)
Spray paint (Didn't use this time)
Clear plastic sheet ($0.99 from hobby lobby)
And you'll need either a good knife/razor or scissors (I would use your craft supplies. Not your good stuff).
First off, I didn't spray paint this frame because I liked the color, but in the past I have spray painted the wood to make it a different color and it is easy enough. Just take the frame outside and spray it on top of some news paper if you don't want the grass to be a different color. Let it dry and your done with that step.

This frame had a mat that I didn't like as well as a smaller picture frame inside it. So my first step was to remove the inside picture frame from the mat with my razor/scissors.

TA DA! That was easy. Next I just took the cloth that I chose and glued it to the mat by folding about an inch over the back. I just use super glue because it holds well and drys quickly.

After you have secured the cloth you can pretty much put what ever you want in the frame. I turned this one into a valentines note to my sweetie. I'm no Hemingway, but I like to think that B got the point. I just used some card stock and glitter to make the backing for the note and card stock for the note. Just make sure to use a glue that dries clear. This had not dried yet, but has since. In the past I've used card stock to back pictures to hang, but really you can do what ever you want. If you do use a picture be careful about what kind of glue you use.

Once the note was in place (with just a touch of super glue) I cut the plastic sheet to fit the frame and closed this baby up.

Ok, so I didn't have the extra hearts, but I just don't want you to read it.
I think it is really important to note that the plastic is key. I know it sounds cheap to use plastic, but you can't really tell that it is cheap plastic and it makes the cloth look more like a mat than cloth. Make sure to check the sheet for any scratches at the store, and you should be fine. I hope this is a cheap idea that you can use!

16 of 30: (Do I ever post all my outfits in order? I'll post my Valentines outfit eventually)

I wore this to work today. It was so warm here that I couldn't even wear my cardigan all day! I am so happy about that. It is about time that the winter weather left.

I was surprised at how many of my coworkers noticed my shoes today. They are fun and I feel like I'm wearing disco balls on my feet.

So I'm over half way to closet freedom! And I couldn't be more excited. It's not that I'm out of ideas for mixing up the clothes I picked. I just miss all my other clothing. My clothes look so pretty and lonely in the closet.

So this is just a little curiosity of mine, but is there any intrest in crafts/DIY that looks at this blog? I have a few thinsg that I've been working on and I'm not sure if I want to post them on the blog. Or if you want to see them.

This is what I wore to work yesterday. I feel like I'm seeing spots, but that is just how I dress. I needed to look professional since I had a little presentation, and I definitely felt it in this.

After work I changed so we could be romantic and make steak bites, which are delicious if you are wondering.

I hope you all had a wonderful Valentines day with your sweetie or who ever you spent it with! I know I did.
